How we treat each other.

This is a starting draft. Have it reviewed by an adult advisor before you rely on it, and adjust it to fit how the organization actually runs.

The basics

• Respect everyone. No harassment, bullying, discrimination or hate based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, disability or background.
• Be honest. No scams, misleading financial claims, fake metrics or dishonest pitches.
• No MLMs or pyramid schemes. Don’t recruit members into them, ever.
• No pressure selling. Don’t use the community as a lead list. Don’t push other members into purchases or “investments.”
• No unregulated investment solicitation. Don’t solicit money from other members for ventures, tokens or funds.
• Keep it legal. Nothing illegal, and nothing that puts other members at risk.
• Respect privacy. Don’t share another member’s full name, school, contact info, or anything said in confidence without their okay.
• Give before you ask. Contribute to the community, not just extract from it.

At events

• Follow the venue’s rules and the direction of organizers.
• Photos and video may be taken; you can opt out at registration or on the day.
• Tell an organizer if something makes you uncomfortable. You can also email hello@vancouverfounders.org.

For adults — mentors, speakers, partners

• You’re here to support young people, not to recruit, sell to, or solicit them.
• All communication with members goes through the organization. Don’t arrange private one-on-one contact with a member.
• Never contact a member privately through personal social media or messaging.
• Follow all applicable laws and the venue’s safeguarding rules.

If someone breaks this

Depending on what happened, we may give a warning, remove someone from an event, or remove them from the community. Serious safety concerns are escalated to the appropriate authorities.
