Privacy note

We collect what we need — and nothing more.

Our members are minors, so we keep this deliberately minimal.

This is a plain-language starting draft, not legal advice. Have an adult advisor review it before launch and align it with BC and Canadian privacy rules (PIPA / PIPEDA).

What we collect

  • Applications: name, email, optional phone, grade, age, school, city, your interests and short written answers, and how you heard about us.
  • Newsletter: just your email.
  • Event registration: name, email, member status, a parent/guardian contact for safety, and your photo/video consent choice.
  • Contact & partnership forms: the details you type in.

Why we collect it

  • To review applications and run the membership.
  • To organize events and keep members safe at them.
  • To send you things you asked for (newsletter, event invites, replies).

What we don’t do

  • We don’t sell your data.
  • We don’t share member contact details with partners or sponsors.
  • We don’t publish your full name, school, email, phone or social handles publicly without your explicit permission. Public member profiles are opt-in.
  • We don’t ask for information we don’t need — no home addresses, no government IDs.

Who can see it

Only the organizing team, and only for the reasons above. Form submissions are handled by our forms provider and stored in our member records.

Photos and video

We take photos and video at events for social media and recaps. You can opt out when you register or on the day, and you can ask us to remove a specific photo of you afterward.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter any time via the link in the email.
  • Ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing hello@vancouverfounders.org.

Parents and guardians

If you’re a parent or guardian and have questions about your child’s information, email hello@vancouverfounders.org and we’ll help.
